“Our philosophy is simple: make it well and make it last”
Author: Alicia Wainhouse, Creative Founder

It all started with the Antiques Roadshow…
Before The Wainhouse Company was established in 2022, our founders—a husband and wife duo—bought second-hand furniture and antiques from their local auction house, refurbished each piece, and sold it online. It all began in 2015, sparked by their curiosity in interiors from watching Antiques Roadshow, the beloved BBC television programme.
Over the years, our founders developed a vision to design and craft their own furniture line that would embody British values of quality and integrity. They gradually transitioned from antiques to furniture production, focusing on design, craftsmanship, and building their team.

Our mission
We’re on a mission to produce entirely in the UK. At the current time of writing, our dining tables, living room furniture, and some of our chairs and bar stools are produced right here in our Somerset workshop. These pieces are all meticulously crafted by our dedicated small team of expert craftsmen, who put their passion and skill into every single item we produce.

Where we are today
Today, our furniture designs are retailed in both the UK and US. Our global team spans over 15 members, united by a dedication to creating timeless, long-lasting furniture. Our reputation for delivering exceptional furnishings and customer service is down to our talented team.

Proud to be small and independent
Big-box names often lack that special ingredient independent businesses have—soul. Leading the way with new ideas and approaches, independent businesses also offer a boutique shopping experience and strive to supply things that meet the criteria of quality and integrity.

Leading by example
Since inception, we've focused on creating quality products that not only improve the daily lives of our customers but are also good for the environment. A 2019 report by the North London Waste Authority revealed that 22 million pieces of furniture were discarded every year in the UK alone, with most of it going to landfill. There's a noticeable vacuum in the interiors industry when it comes to sustainability. That's why we strive to be a leader in sustainability by crafting our furniture for longevity, using FSC-grade wood sourced from Europe only, and crafting furniture in our English or European workshops.
