At The Wainhouse Company, our philosophy is simple: Make it well and make it last.
Since 2022, we've been designing and crafting furniture built for longevity, creating timeless furnishings from the best materials.
Our story
Our story begins in Somerset, England, in the kitchen of our founders where a passion for timeless, sustainable interiors emerged. According to a 2019 report by the North London Waste Authority, 22 million pieces of furniture are discarded each year in the UK alone, the majority of which ends up in landfill due to a lack of recyclability.
That is why we champion sustainability in home furnishings by encouraging buying once and buying well. As British designers and makers, we combine quality materials with timeless designs and a natural lean towards functionality to create understated furnishings that last a lifetime and beyond.
Natural wooden furniture
From handcrafted dining tables, to bar stools and elegant accent chairs - we use organic materials such as oak, beech and pine to craft each piece in our English and European workshops.
We are recognised for crafting high-quality, long-lasting, and sustainable furniture. This reputation is rooted in our environmental commitment. We prioritise using sustainable materials in our furniture production. Notably, we use FSC and PEFC certified wood materials where appropriate.
FSC, or Forest Stewardship Council, was founded in 1993 to combat escalating deforestation and promote responsible forest management. Our timber and wood suppliers hold FSC and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) Chain of Custody Certificates. They also undergo annual inspections to ensure ongoing compliance.
We source our wood from France, Finland, Italy, and Slovenia.
